An American professor and public intellectual, Noam Chomsky's academic journey began at the University of Pennsylvania, where he pursued undergraduate studies in linguistics, mathematics, and philosophy. He furthered his learning at Harvard University, earning his Ph.D. in linguistics in 1955 under the mentorship of Zellig Harris. He's been a prolific author, creating numerous influential works that extend beyond linguistics into politics, philosophy, and social commentary. Throughout his life, Chomsky's commitment to rigor and social justice has left an incredible mark on both academic and personal agendas.

Chomsky is known as the "father of modern linguistics". Through his impactful book Syntanic Structures he was able to draw out and explain to others his passion for language. He developed his non-empirist theory of language which he called  the theory of "Universal Grammer" within his book. It stated that human brain structures naturally allow for the capacity to learn and use languages.
